Statement on Violence at U.S. Capitol

“EARTHDAY.ORG strongly condemns the violent acts the world witnessed yesterday at the United States Capitol building. While peaceful protests and civic engagement are vital and necessary to a free society, mob rule is never the correct approach to produce change. These senseless acts and direct assaults on democracy must not be tolerated.

At this unparalleled juncture, the country and its citizens must begin the healing process. Now, more than ever, is the time to restore our civility and faith in each other, to restore our respect for truth and science, and to restore our earth.”
