Press Release

EARTHDAY.ORG Joins Forces with International Tree Foundation and PayPal to Support Global Reforestation

Washington D.C. (April 3, 2023)- EARTHDAY.ORG, the global organizer of Earth Day and largest recruiter to the environmental movement worldwide, announced its collaboration with International Tree Foundation (ITF) and PayPal. Coinciding with Earth Day 2023, and continuing throughout the entire month of April, PayPal customers in the United States will have the option to donate to EARTHDAY.ORG at checkout, while customers in the United Kingdom will have the option to donate to ITF.

The collaboration will extend beyond the checkout as PayPal employees lend a hand planting trees in the United States, Asia, United Kingdom and Mexico.

“We appreciate the support of PayPal teams and customers,” said Kathryn Stoddard, Earth Day’s Chief of Marketing.  “PayPal volunteers will be able to see the fruits of their labor for decades to come, while every  dollar donated by customers will be put to use reforesting communities impacted by climate change.”

Since 2010, EARTHDAY.ORG has planted tens of millions of trees, working worldwide to strengthen communities and protect biodiversity. Planting locations are selected to have a direct impact on areas threatened by climate change. Often mangroves are planted to restore coastline ecosystems and sequester carbon, or fruit and nuts trees are planted to increase food security and help people live sustainably. EARTHDAY.ORG also provides education and training, ensuring that each tree is cared for over its lifetime.
