Minnesota currently has no official legislation to mandate the teaching of climate change in their schools. It however is mentioned in their science standards. In order for Minnesota to effectively teach their students, they must mandate the instruction of climate change in their schools
State science standards mention climate change instruction in the classroom. New social studies standards, set to take effect in the 2025-2026 school year, also include anthropogenic climate change.
HF 2297, introduced in the 2023-2024 session, would have required instruction on climate change and its effects on marginalized populations in elementary and secondary schools.
