Maine has implemented the Next Generation Science Standards as well as passing LD 1902, which funds climate education for teachers and educators. Maine is one of the few states going above and beyond to implement proper measures to increase climate educations in their classrooms and prepare their youth for the future.
Maine has a coastline of approximately 3,500 miles, making it extremely susceptible to the impending sea level rise which we are expecting to see in the coming years.
This bill, LD 1902 A Resolve To Establish a Pilot Program To Encourage Climate Education in Maine Public Schools, will fund climate education professional development for teachers and partnerships between schools and community organizations in a 3-year pilot program.
