Are you passionate about saving the planet and looking to make an impact? EARTHDAY.ORG is seeking enthusiastic interns to join our mission of mobilizing people to protect the Earth for future generations.
At EARTHDAY.ORG, you’ll gain valuable experience working with a global nonprofit that collaborates with over 50,000 partners in 192 countries. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects across various departments — Development, Education, The Great Global Cleanup, Plastics, Universities, and National Campaigns — helping to tackle some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Specific Responsibilities May Include
- Research & Writing: Write articles on environmental topics, blending your research skills with creativity on both assigned and self-selected subjects. Additional writing assignments can include fundraising emails, advocacy campaigns, and other research synthesis.
- Digital Research: Conduct internet research, such as researching podcasts, identifying athletes, finding contact information for journalists, entering Earth Day events on a global map.
- Data Analytics: Analyze digital communications data to support outreach and engagement efforts.
- Project Involvement: Depending on your department, assist in grassroots outreach, campaign development, and event planning for global environmental initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in environmental issues and a commitment to solving climate change, ending plastic pollution, and protecting biodiversity.
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and other digital tools.
- A professional and positive attitude with the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Experience in graphic design and Canva are a plus but not required.
Departments & Opportunities
We’re hiring interns for multiple departments, including:
- Communications: Write articles, emails, social media, create graphics.
- Development & Fundraising: Assist with donor outreach, research, and data management.
- Education: Help craft climate education materials and contribute to academic partnerships.
- The Great Global Cleanup: Support our worldwide cleanup initiatives by coordinating outreach and managing data.
- Plastics & End Plastics Campaign: Research policy, track pollution trends, and help with advocacy efforts.
- Universities & National Campaigns: Connect with campus groups, research environmental initiatives, and drive campaigns.
Terms and Benefits
Internships are 15 hours a week minimum with at least 3 days on. This internship can be fully remote or hybrid. Our office is located in Washington, DC, with in-office opportunities on Wednesdays.
This is an unpaid internship, but college credit can be awarded if your institution supports it. In addition, you’ll receive training in new technologies, participate in career development talks, and gain mentorship from experienced staff.
