Statement from EARTHDAY.ORG and Kathleen Rogers
November 7, 2020
We are at a precarious moment politically for environmental progress in the United States, and at the tipping point for climate change globally. In the first 100 days of the new administration, it is imperative that President-Elect Biden rejoin the Paris Agreement, tackle the climate crisis right off the bat, and ignite global action benefitting all communities in the critical months and years ahead.
Over the last fifty years, the modern environmental movement has been continuously fighting to protect our shared home. While we have encountered numerous setbacks, we have also accomplished so much. Now, we have an opportunity to both restore our earth and restore our economy. Through green jobs, green technology, and green education, each and every one of us has a role to play in the solution. Together, we have a collective power that can make a tremendous difference for the planet.
We must do our part to hold our governments accountable and ensure that serious and consequential legislation is established in 2021. There is no time to wait. Our health, our economy, and our collective future depend on swift action.
It’s time to come together. It’s time to get to work. It’s time to restore our earth.
