EARTHDAY.ORG Launches The Great Global Cleanup for 2022

The Worldwide Volunteer Event is Targeting Expansion to 192 Countries

Washington, D.C. – EARTHDAY.ORG has announced that The Great Global Cleanup will return in April 2022. Since its inception, The Great Global Cleanup has provided opportunities for individuals and organizations to tackle local mismanaged waste and make positive, tangible impacts on our environment. This year, the initiative aims to reach new heights with cleanups in 192 countries across the globe.

Presenting partners of The Great Global Cleanup include World Cleanup Day, Let’s Do It World, National Cleanup Day and Keep America Beautiful. Thousands more partners, individuals and small groups are encouraged to unite to create clean communities.

Individuals are encouraged to search the map for nearby cleanups, or create their own solo or small group cleanups near where they live and work. Cleanup partners can register events and invite volunteers to their cleanups via The Great Global Cleanup live map. Cleanup events will be added to the map throughout March and April.

“From harming marine and human health, to clogging our waterways and littering communities, plastic pollution is threatening the survival of our shared planet. Cleanups are just one way individuals can get involved to combat this critical issue. For Earth Day 2022, ‘Invest In Our Planet’ means taking action and participating in community measures to help solve the issue of mismanaged waste,” said Kathleen Rogers, President, EARTHDAY.ORG.

The Great Global Cleanup® is a worldwide campaign to remove billions of pieces of trash from neighborhoods, beaches, rivers, lakes, trails, and parks — reducing waste and plastic pollution, improving habitats, and preventing harm to wildlife and humans. This program aims to continue cleanups every day of the year for a brighter, greener, and cleaner planet. The Great Global Cleanup is yet another way individuals and organizations can commit to making Earth Day Every Day.
