Earth Day Network announces TV host, actress and climate activist Melissa Tan as its Ambassador in Malaysia

Earth Day Network, the global organizer of Earth Day, announces Melissa Tan as Earth Day Network Ambassador in Malaysia.

In addition to acting as a global organizer for Earth Day events, Earth Day Network works year-round to promote environmental action, with tens of thousands of partners in 192 countries. The organization leads campaigns in global reforestation, climate and environmental literacy, end plastic pollution and biodiversity protection.

Speaking about her role as Earth Day Network’s Ambassador, Melissa Tan said, “As an Earth Day Network Ambassador, I will continue to speak boldly for change, to influence individuals in all their capacities: as human beings, communities, business owners, industry leaders and policymakers for the preservation and restoration of the environment. We are all connected by our actions and we need to move in the same direction.

“I am committed to building a sustainability mindset in Malaysia and beyond: to #MakeGreenMainstream by providing guidance on how we can be conscious citizens; organize and collaborate in grassroot movements; and engage with businesses to do better. All of us have a part to play and through our cohesive efforts, we must act urgently to realize the SDGs and learn to thrive in harmony with the environment.”

Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network, said, “We are grateful to have Ms. Melissa Tan as our Ambassador in Malaysia. Our several initiatives focus towards building a clean, green and healthy planet like The Great Global Cleanup, Climate & Environmental Literacy and Foodprints for the Future, to name a few. As an Ambassador in Malaysia, Melissa will add value to each of our programs. She is an already passionate environmentalist and a zero waste advocate. We are confident that Ms. Tan will influence many of her followers towards an eco-friendly and sustainable living. Faced with global challenges, we remain as committed as ever to stymie climate change with support of Ambassadors like Melissa.”

Earth Day Network’s Regional Director of Asia Karuna Singh said, “Melissa is a strong zero waste advocate, and she actively works to address several environmental issues in Malaysia through her organization, The Green Guerrila. We are so proud to join hands with her and make concerted efforts toward environment.”
