POTUS Joins Twitter and Gets the Climate Conversation Started
June 4, 2015
Last week, on May 28, President Obama sat down to answer questions on Twitter. The new @POTUS twitter account has been active for just short of two weeks and already has more than two and a half million followers. The President put all of this exposure to good use, with just under half of his tweets so far focusing on climate change.
The President answered questions covering topics from severe weather to our responsibility to future generations. The latter is one point that another world leader has pushed in recent months. President Obama joins the Pope in calling for action on the pressing environmental issues we now face. In similar fashion to the Pope, President Obama said that we have a moral obligation to take action on climate issues for future generations. The tide is shifting towards an environmentally conscious global leadership, something desperately needed to tackle the plague of environmental issues humans have created. In his last tweet, Obama promised more to come, so be sure to come up with more questions for his next session.
