Get Schooled on Climate: Toolkit for Climate Education Week
April 16, 2018
It’s Climate Education Week — and Earth Week! — so it’s the perfect time for students to learn about the environmental challenges we face and to prepare them to lead us into a more sustainable future.
With the right lessons and guidance, we can equip the next generation of leaders with knowledge, skills, and motivation they’ll need to take on global challenges such as climate change, natural resource sustainability, and a prosperous global economy.
We’ve got activities and project resources to help mobilize students to help us in our global campaign to End Plastic Pollution with this year’s Climate Education Week Toolkit. The web-based, cross-disciplinary resource includes a range of lesson plans and educational activities focused on the issue of Plastic Pollution.
“This year’s Climate Education Week Toolkit was designed to lead students from awareness to action on a variety of topics involved with the issue of plastic pollution,” says Tracey Ann Ritchie, Ph.D., Earth Day Network’s Director of Education. “Plastic pollution is not just a marine issue, it is a freshwater issue, a land issue, a wildlife issue, and a human health issue. I hope this resource will be helpful to you and your students well beyond this week, as we work year-round to #EndPlasticPollution. We’ve already heard from school-based events happening across the globe, from Northern Virginia to Glasgow, and California to Bulgaria. Let’s go!”
