Earth Day Network Support for the Student Climate Strikes

Earth Day Network fully supports students exercising their right to speak up on the climate crisis.
It’s been amazing to see students from across the world leaving their classrooms and taking to the streets to demand a safer, healthier, more sustainable planet and future. Inspired by the voices and actions of youth leaders such as Greta Thunberg from Sweden and Kelsey Cascadia Rose Juliana and Xiuhtezcatl Martinez from the Juliana, et al. v. United States of America climate change lawsuit, other young adults are realizing the power of their own voices and actions.
The opportunity to participate in a global environmental movement is both meaningful and educational. Students are learning about and practicing real-world skills such as civics, communication, listening, and negotiation. Climate change is inherently interdisciplinary, covering topics such as ecology, economics, sociology, government, ethics, and engineering. This is how they develop 21st century skills. This is how they become active and successful participants in a global job force. This is how we develop future leaders.
Earth Day Network would like to thank all of the students, parents, and educators participating in and supporting the student strikes. We are with you!
