On the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, you are invited by GoDaddy and EARTHDAY.ORG to do your part in preserving our planet.

This Earth Day, GoDaddy Green donated $10,991 to plant a tree for every single GoDaddy employee, including part-time workers, contractors, and consultants.

These trees will be planted in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve in Mexico in partnership with EARTHDAY.ORG’s Canopy Project.

GoDaddy Green is all about taking tangible steps to reduce our footprint and lessen the effects of climate change. We all love swag, but not its environmental impact (check out the life cycle of a t-shirt)! Join us in doing something a little different for Earth Day and every day!

How you can get involved!

GoDaddy employees all across the globe will be working towards one unified goal of beautifying our planet, removing one piece of rubbish at a time.

The Great Global Cleanup, an initiative brought to you by EARTHDAY.ORG, offers you the opportunity to volunteer in a safe, socially-distanced outdoor setting. The ask is simple – sign up, show up, and cleanup!

Cleanups all over the world have already been organized – you can search to join in on one in your neighborhood, or if you’d like to do this as a solo mission, you can easily register your cleanup. Either way, our collective impact is the same.

Use the toolbar on the right to get started.

It is very important that in addition to registering here, we ask you to log your volunteer time.

In addition to the great work you’re doing, every hour you spend volunteering awards EARTHDAY.ORG $35 USD* which goes an extremely long ways in working to preserve our planet. Let’s get started!

Do a Cleanup!

  • Follow our Great Global Cleanup Safety Checklist!
  • Cleanup on your own or with a group and report your work!
  • You can find public cleanups available on the cleanup map, or you can look here.
  • Select a location, such as a nearby park or trail, to cleanup.
  • Return to this page and complete your cleanup form.
  • We’ll review your Cleanup and post it to our map!
  • Cleanups under this initiative will begin on 4/22 and will run through the end of May.

Report your Cleanup

Reporting your cleanup through this form is optional for tracking your volunteer hours, but your submission will be added alongside all international volunteers who are participating in April. Please see more details on how the GoDaddy Goodness Budget works by visiting the GoDaddy for Good internal SharePoint site.

Support The Canopy Project in Mexico’s Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve!

The Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve is one of the most diverse and rich ecosystems in Mexico. Sierra Gorda is a natural protected area of almost 1 million acres and covers a third of Querétaro state.
Its geographic position between the Arctic Neotropical and the Mesoamerican Mountain regions makes Sierra Gorda one of the most ecologically rich and diverse places in Mexico. EARTHDAY.ORG supports critical conservation work of the ecosystem of Sierra Gorda, which is essential to protecting a
number of threatened and migratory species.

The Reserve is home to 130 species of mammals, over 360 species of birds, as well as dozens of types of reptiles and amphibians. This habitat is critical for the jaguars in Mexico, as well as the Mexican Black Bear, Military Macaws, Toucanets and many more. It is estimated that nearly 30% of all Mexican butterflies can be found in the Reserve, with nearly 600 different species present.

Earth Day reforestation also involves the communities around the Reserve. We have planted trees on and around 20 schools in the Sierra Gorda region, with participation from teachers and students. The students in this program are taught the importance of reforestation as a strategy to protect dwindling habitats and educated in ways to support a healthy ecosystem. EARTHDAY.ORG works in alliance with the Secretariat of Agricultural Development of the State Government of Querétaro, to plant fruit trees, including apple, pear and fruit, to help increase food security and give back further to the community.

Please consider supporting this important reforestation work. You can learn more about The Canopy Project, our other planting locations, and ways to donate by clicking here.
