TELL PRESIDENT MACRON: SAVE THE WHALES
In 2021, France took a bold step for marine animal welfare by banning the captivity of all cetaceans, including whales and dolphins, as well as their involvement in live ‘theme’ park performances.
Four years later, Marineland of Antibes, a theme park with 4,000 animals in the south of France, closed its doors, citing this law. Yet today, two orcas, Wikie and her son Keijo, and 12 bottlenose dolphins remain trapped in deteriorating conditions inside the closed park.
New drone footage shows the two orcas and the pod of dolphins circling endlessly in crumbling, algae-filled tanks with little stimulation. They are almost entirely isolated from the outside world.
Wikie’s firstborn son, Moana, and her brother, Inouk, have already died in the park in the last 18 months. Every day without action puts these intelligent, social animals at risk.
We must act to help them.
