Development Coordinator
Position Type: Full Time
Compensation: $55,000 to $65,000
EARTHDAY.ORG (EDO) is pleased to offer a regular, full-time position, to a candidate who will support EDO on its philanthropic development team. The successful candidate will work in office in Washington D.C. (hybrid) and report to the Vice President of Development.

Position Function: The Development Coordinator is a key member of the development team, helping to meet fundraising goals to carry out Earth Day’s work in the U.S. and around the world. The individual in this role will help take our donor management and stewardship practices to the next level. This regular, full-time position will ensure the success of our constituent relationship management (CRM) tools and help us optimize their use. This position will bring vital expertise and a collaborative attitude to instituting data best practices that will help us expand our donor-centered fundraising programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure timely acknowledgement and stewardship of all gifts.
- Work with the VP of Development on creating an annual development calendar to ensure year-round engagement and stewardship of individual and institutional funders.
- Assist Vice President of Development with developing and implementing operating policies and procedures for development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM database.
- Ensure data integrity within EDO, creating, promoting, and governing standardized data-entry practices on all CRM and online systems.
- Help establish and maintain a dashboard(s) for tracking fundraising goals and individual and institutional fundraising prospects.
- Develop processes for capturing and recording data from fundraising and program activities, such as donor events and rapid-response campaigns.
- Produce segmented donor lists for fundraising, program, and communications activities.
- Run regular financial reports and analyze data to share with the VP of Development.
- Monitor external donation portals to ensure prompt acknowledgement.
- Work with EDO finance staff on financial management of donations (such as check processing).
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of donor events.
- Assist with donor outreach and communications as needed.
- Remain up to date on industry best practices for stewardship and cultivation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a fundraising, development, or administrative role, ideally including CRM experience with ability to conduct data imports, queries, and exports that produce detailed and accurate reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency in common office procedures and software, including Microsoft 365 and Office Suite.
- Strong project management skills.
- Superior tact, discretion, maturity, and judgment in handling highly sensitive, often confidential information.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to multitask and manage multiple projects and assignments often with competing deadlines.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience and interest in conservation issues and a nonprofit environment preferred.
- Experience with event planning preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and telephone communication.
- Ability to work well in a team environment with a wide range of people, work well under pressure, and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to work independently, managing a variety of projects and tasks effectively, with minimal oversight, in a hybrid/remote environment.
- A commitment to the mission of EDO, ethical fundraising principles, and DEI principles.
Location: The position will work from EDO’s Washington D.C. office (hybrid).
Compensation: EDO offers compensation commensurate with skills and experience and will include a competitive benefits package. Salary for this position will be in the $55,000-$65,000 range commensurate with experience and considering locality.
