As Earth Day 2015 Draws Near, Earth Day Network Welcomes New Team Members

Washington D.C. – As the 45th anniversary of Earth Day draws near, Earth Day Network is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members. Johanna Bozuwa – Program and Policy Coordinator Johanna Bozuwa joins Earth Day Network as Program and Policy Coordinator. She recently graduated from Barnard College as an Environmental Policy major and was an Athena Center for Leadership Studies Scholar. In the past, Johanna has worked in both environmental advocacy and education, including editing environmentally focused educational children’s books at Nomad Press. Devika Kar – Education Officer, Earth Day Network India A trained environmental educator Devika has over 25 years experience in the field of environment education and event planning. Her strengths lie in teacher training, preparing resource material and planning and executing events for students and community members. As Education Officer with WWF, she organized campaigns, seminars, and nature camps. Devika was instrumental in helping to activate the first Nature Study Park in Kolkata. As Assistant Secretary of Bichitra Pathshala, an NGO that utilizes films to communicate, she helped run ‘Earth Reel’ an environmental filmmaking competition. Devika has authored a training manual for teachers on integrating environmental issues with curriculum and has completed projects for the National Council of Science Museums, the largest network of science museums in the world. For IUCN, she undertook Process Documentation on Wise Governance of an important Ramsar wetland site in India.  Devika has also compiled fact files on endangered species for the West Bengal State Forest Department. Devika is a recognized trainer with the British Council in India.  She is also empanelled with the Oxford University Press.
