Climate Action Takes Center Stage At Global Leaders Summit and During Worldwide Parallel Earth Day Events

EARTHDAY.ORG Announces Global Multi-Cast For Earth Day 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As a clear acknowledgment of the power of Earth Day, the Biden administration will hold a global leaders summit on April 22, 2021. This is a critical stepping stone for the U.S. to rejoin the world in combating the climate crisis. In concert with several planned parallel EARTHDAY.ORG events worldwide, Earth Day 2021 will accelerate global action on climate change.

More than 1 billion people in 192 countries now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world. Countless important environmental events have happened on Earth Day since 1970, including the recent signing of the Paris Agreement, as Earth Day continues to be a momentous and unifying day each and every year.

“EARTHDAY.ORG looks forward to contributing to the success of this historic climate summit and making active progress to Restore Our Earth,” said Kathleen Rogers, President of EARTHDAY.ORG. ”We must see every country rapidly raise their ambition across all climate issues — and that must include climate education which would lead to a green jobs-ready workforce, a green consumer movement, and an educated and civically engaged citizenry around the world.”

In addition to the Biden administration’s climate summit, EARTHDAY.ORG will be supporting parallel events with governments, universities and NGOs around the world. EARTHDAY.ORG will produce a multi-hour multi-channel live digital event with segments taking place around the world starting noon Eastern Time on April, 22, 2021. Workshops, panel discussions, roundtables, films, and special performances will focus on climate and environmental literacy, reforestation efforts, regenerative agriculture, equity and environmental justice, citizen science, cleanups, and beyond. Participants will include world climate leaders, grassroots activists, nonprofit innovators, thought leaders, industry leaders, artists, musicians, celebrities, and more.

Earth Day’s 2021 theme, Restore Our Earth, focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems, as well as create a green jobs-ready workforce, a green consumer movement, and an educated and civically engaged citizenry around the world.
