Climate Change Lesson Plan Contest

After a very successful Climate Education Week 2016, Earth Day Network asked its educators “what could we have done better?” and “what do you need in the future?”. The resounding answer was more classroom materials. This year, as we begin to plan for Climate Education Week 2017, we have enlisted the help of our educator’s network and teachers all over the country with our Teach For The Future: Climate Change Lesson Plan Contest.
Through the generous support of Southwest Airlines, Earth Day Network is launching a competition to look for the ten best climate change lesson plans from K-12 teachers and educators. Research shows that the best lesson plans are created by teachers, for teachers. The winning lesson plans will be featured in our toolkit for Climate Education Week 2017.
There will be ten winners, three from elementary grades, three from middle grades, three from high school, and one grand prize winner. Each of the ten winners will receive a roundtrip flight to either Portland, OR or Columbus, OH to attend one of the two end of the year area conferences put on by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). These conferences are wonderful opportunities for science, environmental, and STEM educators to learn new skills, find new and exciting resources, and connect with fellow educators. The grand prize winner will not only receive roundtrip airfare but also paid registration to one of the area conferences.
Lesson plan submission will be accepted until October 21st so get your lesson plan ready or pass this information on to a teacher in your life!
