Earth Day Network Names Bryan Buchanan as Communications Director

WASHINGTON – Earth Day Network has named Bryan Buchanan as Communications Director. Mr. Buchanan will oversee the organization’s external and internal communications strategy, including media relations. “Despite massive public support for solving the climate crisis and other pressing environmental problems, U.S. and international action is at a standstill – and part of the reason is that what can be and is being done isn’t always communicated effectively to ordinary folks and to the media,” said Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network. “Bryan has a proven track record of doing just that – for tough issues – and we’re excited to have him on the team.” Prior to Earth Day Network, Mr. Buchanan was the press officer for Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch. Previously, he was an Account Executive on the Environment Team at Fenton Communications, conducting strategic media outreach for major progressive non-profits. He has also worked as an organizer for the Sierra Club and on the policy and lobbying team at the League of Conservation Voters. “Earth Day Network does so much amazing work that affects the lives of millions of people all over the world,” said Buchanan. “If I could effectively communicate even one quarter of that work, the impact would be immense. I’m eager to get started.” Mr. Buchanan holds a bachelor’s degree in politics and cultural anthropology from the University of Virginia and an interdisciplinary master’s degree in social science from the University of Chicago.
