Earth Day Highlight Events

The Chemical Engineering Society of Kuwait will be hosting a beach clean-up event. The Event will also include a student contest in which they will be making art projects out of waste. The event will encourage recycling by providing proper bins for clothes, plastics and old electronic devices.



Kent State University at Stark is holding their annual Earth Day Celebration on April 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. The event is held on campus and open to the community, including activities such as nature walks, environmental education demonstrations, and mock fossil digs.



The Rwanda Environmental Conservation Organisation (RECOR) is planning a national conference on green cities. The goal is to get all stakeholders involved in urban development at the table. Specifically focusing on local policy makers to share the strategies and programs that are currently in place to make Rwandan cities greener. It will also be an opportunity for participants to express their views and be heard by government officials.

Earth Day at the Utica Zoo, on April 26 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, consists of animal presentations, tours, conservation talks, and more, for all ages. Many topics will be covered throughout the day’s activities, including endangered species, animal rehabilitation, and species survival programs.



In the framework of Earth Day, on the April 22nd the Aarhus Information Center in Vlore, Albania will be gathering a lot of students, youths and citizens in the main square of Vlore to sign a green petition for increasing the green spaces in town.



The University of Michigan – Flint, Mott Community College, and Kettering University are coming together to host an Earth Matters Earth Day and Garden Celebration on April 12 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The event will include environmental games and activities, farmer’s market and gardening activities, and musical performances.



In Kolkata, Earth Day Network India, along with partner groups planned a book fair to raise awareness about waste issues in India. Students and community members brought used books to be recycled and learned about the importance of waste management.



The City of St. Louis will host an event on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Forest Park in the City. It will feature opening remarks form Mayor Slay, educational displays, and shuttles powered by biodiesel or CNG.


Costa Rica

The Earth Charter Initiative created an international virtual forum, encouraging their contacts around the world to do something good for the earth. They are encouraging people to submit photos and short videos of their actions to inspire others to do the same!



Earth Day Texas is an annual festival which promotes environmental awareness. Its 2014 Earth Day event is family friendly, provides free admission, and will take place at Fair Park. It will include eco exhibitors and the announcement of their Hydrogen Initiative.



The One Eleuthera Foundation will launch a recycling program (for glass, aluminum cans, plastic & trees for mulching) with one of their partner organizations in the Bahamas.


South Dakota

Main Street Square is hosting their Earth Day evetn on Saturday, April 26, 2014. There will be booths hosted by local businesses and organizations and environmentally friendly kids’ activities and family fun.
