Kentucky was one of the first states to develop the Next Generation Science Standards in order to educate their youth. Though they have started to take steps, they are still well behind where they need to be and would greatly benefit by investing more time and energy into climate change education

Climate Issues

  • Increased frequency of drought
  • Increased precipitation and flooding events
  • Increased intensity and frequency of wildfire

The University Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Studies (UK-CARES) provides teachers with workshops and programs to allow them ti gain knowledge on environmental science and pass it along to their students
