Emerging Women Green Economy Leaders Unite at Powershift 2011

At Powershift 2011 in Washington, D.C., Earth Day Network hosted a dynamic afternoon panel discussion on women’s leadership in the green economy, featuring emerging women leaders from Solar Sister, the United Nations Foundation, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the National Latino Coalition on Climate Change, and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement.

To a conference room packed with over 100 young environmentalists from around the U.S., panelists Andrea Delgado, Corinne Hart and Neha Misra gave insight and inspiration for young women and men who are taking the lead in shaping the green economy.  They discussed best practices for green micro- and social entrepreneurship from around the world and how to engage under-represented demographics like the U.S. Latina population and rural women in developing countries in the struggle for sustainability.  With renewable energy technology and micro-entrepreneurial sales, Solar Sister empowers women in sub-Saharan Africa to improve their livelihoods and the environment. The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is revolutionizing the technology and implementation of improved cooking stoves for environmental and household health in developing countries. As the U.S. Hispanic population is the most affected by environmental degradation, the National Latino Coalition on Climate Change and Labor Council for Latin American Advancement are ensuring that Latinos and Latinas play a leading role in national efforts on this issue.

With a powerful constituency of women across government, business, environment and science sectors, Earth Day Network’s own Women and the Green Economy (WAGE™) Campaign is ensuring that, on the road to a green economy, women take an equal role at every level of leadership.

I’ve been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
