Global Campaign Director – Earth Day 2026 & Environmental Programs

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Global Campaign Director to lead the planning and execution of Earth Day 2026, as well as oversee a portfolio of year-round environmental programs that inspire grassroots action and drive policy change both nationally and globally.

This high-profile leadership role requires a proven campaign strategist with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in organizing, advocacy, or campaign management particularly across multi-state or global initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong existing relationships across civic networks, faith-based organizations, educational institutions, local governments, and environmental coalitions.

We are looking for a visionary leader with a collaborative style and a deep commitment to protecting nearly sixty years of environmental progress through public engagement and coalition-building.

Key Responsibilities

Earth Day 2026 Global Campaign

  • Lead the design and execution of a high-impact, global campaign centered on Earth Day 2026, with a strategic focus on the United States.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive campaign plan, including coordinated state-by-state strategies within a broader national and international framework.
  • Build and sustain broad coalitions with advocacy groups, grassroots organizations, policymakers, educators, faith communities, and local leaders.
  • Oversee campaign operations across digital, media, and field engagement to ensure strong public participation and visibility.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination, staffing, and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure successful campaign delivery.

Year-Round Environmental Programs

  • Supervise ongoing environmental programs operating in multiple countries, states, and communities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand program reach and impact through new partnerships, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of programs with global advocacy goals, grassroots mobilization, and long-term organizational priorities.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Leverage EarthDay.Org’s networks—and your own—to grow coalition participation and amplify campaign impact.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with civic, academic, religious, and local government leaders to broaden support and engagement.
  • Represent the organization at public events, in media appearances, and during high-level stakeholder meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in political or issue-based campaign leadership, ideally with experience in environmental issues. 
  • Proven success designing and managing global, national, or multi-state campaigns.
  • Strong network and understanding of organizing strategies at the national, state, and local levels.
  • Demonstrated success in coalition building, particularly with cross-sector partners.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience overseeing teams and complex logistics.
  • Deep commitment to environmental advocacy, equity, and justice.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
