Education Coordinator

Earth Day Network is seeking an Education Coordinator who can help us expand the global reach of our strong education programs to increase environmental and climate literacy worldwide.

We are seeking an organized professional, a highly motivated person who cares deeply about environmental issues, and an educator who has experience in both formal and non-formal environmental education programs. 

Working closely with the Director of Education, the Education Coordinator will support all aspects of the Education Department including:

  • Supporting the growth in number and diversity of EDN’s education partners
  • Coordinating the organization of all global education partners for Earth Day yearly events
  • Conducting research and assisting in creation and continuance of curricula, web resources, and other supporting materials for Earth Day 2023, and all additional education programs (including, but not limited to: NCEP, Green Schools, School Lunch Week, MobilizeU, Climate and Environmental Literacy, etc.)
  • Communicating with the global Educators Network through email newsletters
  • Creating content for blogs and social media highlighting EDN education programs and initiatives
  • Writing grant applications and funding proposals to financially support education department programs and goals
  • Maintaining operations and ongoing communication with Educators’ Network members and partners, such as management of Go Organic! for Earth Day campaign, Walden project, and other partnerships with national and local organizations
  • Monitoring and analyzing federal, state and local initiatives in identified policy areas including support for actions, as well as developing and implementing strategies with Education Director to further EDN’s policy priorities
  • Coordinating day-to-day logistics of the Education Department, including meetings and conferences
  • Recruiting, hiring, and managing Education Interns (undergraduate and graduate students)
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of environmental education program development and evaluation, knowledge of formal education standards in the US and international education programs, background knowledge in global environmental issues, experience leading formal and/or non-formal education programs, and knowledge of environmental NGO operations

Work Experience: At least three years of formal or non-formal education experience required; grant writing experience preferred

Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills; exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask

Capabilities: Ability to work well with a wide range of audiences, be a team player, but also function well working independently, be proactive and anticipate departmental and organizational needs, multilingual capabilities are strongly preferred

Long hours possible (especially around Earth Day and other special events); some travel required
