EARTHDAY.ORG Announces Their Partnership with Let’s Do It World and Keep America Beautiful for The Great Global Cleanup® 2023
Joining Forces for the Largest Cleanup in History
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 11, 2023) – EARTHDAY.ORG, the global organizer of The Great Global Cleanup and largest recruiter of the environmental movement worldwide, announced today their continued partnership with Let’s Do It World and Keep America Beautiful®. Together, they will work to make 2023’s event the largest volunteer cleanup in history. The goal for this year’s cleanup is to expand to 192 countries, with cleanups of all sizes happening during the month of April.
Whether it’s a large organized cleanup, a small neighborhood effort, or an individual cleanup, all participants make a difference. EARTHDAY.ORG, Let’s Do It World, Keep America Beautiful, and grassroots partners across the globe encourage people to join the cause and safely clean up their communities.
Now in its fifth year, The Great Global Cleanup is focused on tackling the issue of mismanaged waste and providing opportunities for individuals and organizations to see the positive, tangible impacts their actions have on our environment. The campaign encourages governments, businesses, and citizens to unite together to create cleaner communities with events happening globally year round.
“We owe it to ourselves and future generations to take action against the plastic pollution crisis. Let’s be the change we wish to see in the world by raising our voices, mobilizing our communities, and participating in The Great Global Cleanup, while also demanding the enactment of the Plastics Treaty,” said Michael Karapetian, The Great Global Cleanup Campaign Coordinator, “Together, we can create a sustainable future where the beauty and diversity of our oceans are preserved for generations to come.”
Since 2018, Let’s Do It World has organized World Cleanup Day: the annual event on every third Saturday in September engaging volunteers worldwide to pick up litter and better their communities. Last year alone they successfully activated 15 million volunteers and collected 60,000 tons of waste.
“The Great Global Cleanup and World Cleanup Day are great opportunities to get engaged and involved in your community, no matter where you are in the world. Let’s Do it World, who is leading the World Cleanup Day, is excited to partner together with the Great Global Cleanup to make this year’s event bigger than it’s ever been; with a goal of active cleanups in 192 different countries. We can all make a positive impact on our environment, and the Great Global Cleanup is a perfect place to start.” says Heidi Solba, President and Head of the global network.
Keep America Beautiful inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment. Throughout April, they will help organize cleanups throughout the United States, with the help of their network which consists of the nearly 700 state and community-based affiliates, local leaders, and millions of volunteers.
“Keep America Beautiful is celebrating the Great American Cleanup’s® 25th year in 2023. GAC takes place annually each spring with an estimated 500,000 volunteers taking part in 15,000 community events nationwide,” said Keep America Beautiful President and CEO, Jennifer Lawson. “The Great Global Cleanup and World Cleanup Day are vital events that spread the message of taking care of our environment even further, and we are proud to support this important work as we combat climate change together.”
