End Plastic Pollution

Plastic Calculator

Plastic pollution is one of the most important environmental problems that we face today. It impacts the environment and our health and wellbeing. We have all contributed to this problem – mostly unknowingly – and we must work to reduce and ultimately to End Plastic Pollution.

But as they say, you can’t manage what you can’t measure. That’s where this comes in —

Use this calculator to learn about how many plastic items you consume and discard every year.

For every material listed, you’ll see three boxes. In the first box, fill in your daily consumption of the specific item. The second box will auto-populate with your total consumption every year.

For example, if you used 3 plastic water bottles every day, you’ll type ‘3’ into the first box, which populates your yearly consumption (1095!) in the box below.

Your boxes would look like this:

In the third row, you can add your yearly personal reduction. This is the number of plastic items that you could reduce against your current yearly total.

In our original example, let’s say you could cut 900 water bottles a year (good work). Your boxes would look like this:

You’ll repeat this exercise for Chart II, but instead calculate the amount you use MONTHLY (hopefully you’re not going through a toothbrush or more a day…)
