9 out of the 10 most polluted cities in the world are located in India. A typical city in India will reach Air Quality Index (AQI) of 250. This is of serious concern considering an AQI over 50 is detrimental to sensitive lungs and an AQI over 100 is harmful to everyone’s lungs.
As India continues to industrialize, the country’s air quality continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. To address this issue, the Indian government established the National Clean Air Program which has a five year plan to deal with air pollution in India. However, this program lacks the mechanism and support to meet its goal. Sign this petition to tell your government that you support this program and want concrete action to mitigate air pollution nationwide.
