EDN at COP24 | Earth Day Network

Earth Day Network staffers attended the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24) in Katowice, Poland. Below are highlights from the events, including the Sustainable Innovation Forum.

Talking About Earth Challenge 2020

It was an honor to host a panel at COP24, with EDN’s Valeria Merino discussing ways in which citizen science and environmental education can further the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Merino was joined by Kenza Khallafi of the Foundation Mohammed VI for the Protection of the Environment on December 11. Topics discussed: Earth Challenge 2020 for Earth Day 2020 and the environmental programs that the foundation has been supporting.

The complementary aspects between citizen science and environmental education are clear! We gained many insights from the conversation with members of the audience pointed at the need to engage the public on monitoring the impact of the Paris Agreement.

Engaging with and Learning from Local Leaders at the Sustainable Innovation Forum

Earth Day Network was a media and institutional partner of the Sustainable Innovation Forum 2018, a COP24 affiliate event, where we joined other leaders in discussions of the latest policies and innovations galvanizing a global momentum towards a low-carbon economy. Our focus was on how to engage the general population in this conversation and in the transition process.
