OMAN MINISTRY OF EDUCATION CALLS ITS SCHOOLS TO GREEN ACTIONS

April 25, 2011 OMAN MINISTRY OF EDUCATION CALLS ITS SCHOOLS TO GREEN ACTIONS WASHINGTON, DC — Earth Day Network today announced a partnership with the Ministry of Education in Sultanate of Oman to engage students in environmental action through its Billion Acts of Green® campaign. The partnership will engage 1040 schools throughout the country to take advange of Earth Day Network’s lesson plans to go green for Earth Day and every day. Over 500,000 students and teachers started the green action by planting trees in their schoolyards, giving awareness lectures and distributing flyers around the villages as part of A Billion Acts of Green®, the world’s largest environmental service campaign. “Today’s students are the leaders for a sustainable future,” said Kathleen Rogers, President of Earth Day Network (EDN). This effort is founded on the shared belief that to achieve real progress on the environmental challenges we face today, we must act together. A Billion Acts of Green® is a global campaign that drives voluntary efforts to improve our environment. It encourages individuals and organizations to undertake acts of environmental service and advocacy, and to share them with the world. These actions can be immediate changes like switching to energy efficient light bulbs, or large-scale projects that achieve lasting change, such as efforts to green our cities and our schools. All commitments to A Billion Acts of Green share the common thread of people working together to build a greener future.
