In late May of this year, schools in Portland, Oregon, voted to abandon textbooks that “express doubt about the severity of the climate crisis or its root in human activities.”
As a result, they have received the typical, tired, all too predictable barrage of ideological backlash and intimidation tactics. All for sticking up for irrefutable science. We need to let them know that they are not alone. That we have their back. And most importantly that while they may be first, they will not be last. Real climate literacy based on sound science and facts – not ideology and donor funding – is slowing making its way into American curriculums. Get on board!
Join us in supporting the faculty and staff throughout the Portland Public School system. We are all for rigorous debate, but we simply cannot ignore the facts we don’t like and make us uncomfortable. Our children’s education is what is truly at stake.
