Yerala Projects Society

Yerala Projects Society (YPS) is a registered NGO working in drought prone areas. Its activities also focus on migrant labour and the rehabilitation of children of devdasis (temple dancers).  Another of its focus areas is non-conventional energy sources. YPS organizes bio-diversity walks for secondary schools every year with about 300 participants.

Earth Day events will be held between April 18-22 in 10 villages of Maharashtra.  The theme of the campaign will be “Save Water, Save Electricity and Fuel”.

School children and teachers will take part in a rally which will end at the centre of the village where an awareness program will be conducted.  Skits and speeches by children, teachers, parents and YPS staff will be the main draw of the event.  Informative and educational material will be distributed in the community. The campaign is expected to reach out to 1200 students and adults, including farmers.
