MNTN (Madhar Nala Thondu Niruvanam)

Madhar Nala Thondu Niruvanam  means Women’s Welfare Voluntary Organisation in Tamil. It has been in existence for over 25 years and has been the recipient of the ‘Best NGO’ Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu.  Organizing and empowering women is its primary objective.

MNTN worked extensively in the Tsunami affected areas of Cuddalore district.  The organization believes that environmental education should begin with the youth.  With this in mind, on the eve of Earth Day, it will hold contests for village school children (essay writing, slogan writing, painting, poetry, songs etc.) on the theme of environment.  For the general public, there will be exhibitions on the theme of environment.  In addition there will be tree planting and programs to educate women belonging to some1000+ Self Help Groups on the use of natural fertilizers and seedlings.
