Janhit Foundation

Janhit Foundation is actively engaged in the promotion of human welfare through environmental protection.  Its key areas of work include groundwater quality protection, safe drinking water for marginalized communities, protection of river water quality for aquatic ecosystems, water conservation measures, promotion of sustainable agriculture through organic farming, environmental education and empowerment of local communities.  It undertakes this work through scientific research, campaigns, advocacy and grassroot level community involvement. Janhit Foundation works in partnership with the government, and with national and international organizations.

Among the various activities that Janhit has been involved in, the following deserve mention: the “Young Green Campaign that promotes low carbon practices, the setting up of a bio-mass manure unit and the stopping of the burning of agriculture waste such as sugar-cane leaves

Janhit will celebrate Earth Day in a two-fold manner.  On April 21stthere will be a tree planting drive involving about 150 members of the management team, staff and workers of a prominent industrial group. 500 saplings will be planted.

On April 22nd, eco-clubs of different institutions will be invited to IIMT College to  make a presentation on “What I can do as an institution: Contributing towards environment conservation.” The best three ideas will be awarded with a trophy.  Janhit Foundation will help the best ideas get implemented. 

At both the events, local administration and community people would also be involved. Banners, leaflets, invitations, posters etc will be distributed.
