Earth Day San Francisco 2011

The 2011 Earth Day San Francisco team is comprised of event producers, non-profit organizations, artists, activists, educators, business leaders, community representatives and entertainers. Their goal is to educate the public on Earth-friendly practices that will protect and preserve the planet and its natural resources.

This year’s celebration will be a collaboration of social justice and green non-profits, international entertainers, keynote speakers, Earth-friendly exhibitors, eco-educational workshops, interactive art installations, organic food and drink, youth empowerment activities, holistic health practitioners and various indigenous community representatives.

Some of this year’s partners include:

* Matter of Trust, an organization that aims to raise awareness about unnecessary packaging and to encourage smart shopping;

* Washed Ashore, which encourages community members to use plastics from the beach to construct giant sculptures of the marine animals most affected by the plastic pollution; and

*  Common Vision, which brings Earth education to diverse communities to cultivate dynamic leaders in sustainability practice and education.

Earth Day San Francisco will also include exhibits on alternative vehicles, leading solar, wind, and renewable energy companies, organic cooking demos, organic wine and beer tastings, and an eco-fashion show.
