Contact Base
Contact Base (banglanatak.com) is a social enterprise working across India at the grassroot level. It works to protect the rights of women, children and indigenous peoples and to promote and protect local cultures. It uses ‘Theatre in Development’ as a tool for social inclusion and to educate people on issues of social interest.
Contact Base will organize an Earth Day festival in Goa at the Vaddi Beach. This will be held in conjunction with a local group of artists which works under the banner “Art Escape.” The event will have the participation of tourists (national and international), local village communities, children and stakeholders such as NGOs and representatives of local self-government or Panchayat. The objective is to create a platform for collective action toward conservation and environment- friendly practices. They will also hold an art workshop for local children, whose creations will be exhibited for visitors. A music band will entertain visitors and local stakeholders in the evening. In addition, a film on proper garbage disposal will also be screened. Later the audience will be encouraged to share their views on protecting the environment.
