Cementos Progreso
Cementos Progreso is a Guatemalan company whose industry knowledge has enabled us to be recognized by international quality standards in production and distribution of cement and other materials used in construction. We believe in continued investment for continuous improvement of our team, our technology and service to our customers.
It was with great vision and a clear idea of founding one of the first cement factory in Latin America, an October 18, 1899, Don Carlos Federico Novella Klee created the company Carlos F. Don Carlos Novella and Co. venture to invest in a cement had since that time as a transformational leadership at the time the cement was not material in Guatemala and used for construction.
In 1901 he initiated the marketing of cement produced in the Finca La Pedrera. Following the earthquake of 1917 began the true demand for our product because all those buildings made of cement withstood the ravages of this natural phenomenon.
The growing market demand created the need for increased production. In 1971 construction began on the first line in San Miguel Plant. Seven years later, in 1978, they built the Second Line and legalized the name of Cementos Progreso, SA In 1996, construction beginning in the third line, which began in 1998.
