Celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week (05/06 – 05/10). Take the time this week to reach out to a teacher who has impacted you or your child to say “thank you.” Teachers play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the quality education they need to become the leaders of the future.  Let the teachers in your community know that you appreciate the creativity, patience, dedication, and positivity they bring to their job.

During National Teacher Appreciation week, we also celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 7th. Thousands of teachers all over America will be recognized for their dedication to educating the next generation.

Earth Day Network would like to show our appreciation for Mike Wierusz, a teacher at the Secondary Academy of Success in Bothell, Washington.  Mr. Wierusz’s work with EDN’s National Civic Education Project helped to educate his students and the Puget Sound community about the impacts of water quality in Puget Sound. Through Mr. Wierusz’s efforts, his students have become the teachers, using public presentations and education to strengthen the community’s respect for the environmental health of the region. Congratulations to Mr. Wierusz for inspiring the environmental and civic leaders of the future. For more information about our National Civic Education Project, please contact the Education Department at education@earthday.org.

Thank you to all our teachers for their commitment to the power of education to transform the world one student at a time.
