Go Green For World Water Day!

Exactly one month before Earth Day, March 22nd is World Water Day! Water is a precious resource that is necessary for all life on Earth, but our freshwater sources are under increased strain worldwide. The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro. Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater and its status in the international environmental community. This year’s theme for World Water Day is “Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge”. At UN Water’s site, you can also find events going on in your area or help generate buzz around WWD with your own campaign.

Join with Earth Day Network and its partners in celebrating this year’s World Water Day!
