Stars Converge on DC for Climate Leadership Gala!
The Climate Leadership Gala tomorrow night promises to be a grand ceremony celebrating achievements in forging a path to a post-carbon future!
Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson will be honored with Earth Day Network's first Women and the Green Economy (WAGE®) 2011 Leadership Award for her success in courageously bridging the environmental movement and the political and economic spheres. Former New Mexico Governor and UN Ambassador Bill Richardson and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will address the realities of expediting the growth of a vibrant green economy and creating high-quality jobs from their respective experience in international, state and local policy-making. Hosted by Ed Begley, Jr., the Gala will also feature special guest Bo Derek and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton.
Approximately 400 leaders and innovators from industry, finance, government, and the non-profit and scientific communities are expected at the Gala, which is produced by Earth Day Network, in partnership with American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and Carbon War Room, founded by Sir Richard Branson. It is the centerpiece of the Carbon War Room's Creating Climate Wealth Summit, taking place on May 3rd and 4th.
