“Forward on Climate” Rally Sends Right Message at Right Time

In 2010, Earth Day Network organized a massive climate rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., that called for swift, decisive action to stop climate change. But President didn’t listen

Now, after promising to act boldly on climate change in his second inaugural address and State of the Union speech, the president seems to be listening. So, the environmental community rose up again to hold him to his promises at this past weekend’s Forward on Climate Rally.

Earth Day Network was proud to be among the dozens of environmental organizations supporting this important event.

More than 40,000 people from all over the United States marched from the National Mall to the White House in what was one of the largest climate change rallies in history. With coverage in nearly every major U.S. news outlet, the voices of those fighting for our leaders to move us beyond dirty energy and ignite the green economy – starting with limiting carbon pollution from dirty power plants and rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline – were heard loud and clear.

Now it’s time for our elected officials to do their part – and fast – and for President Obama to follow through on his promises to use his executive authority if they don’t.
