School Inspires EDN-India Staff with Art Exhibition

Birla High School  in Kolkata invited Earth Day Network-India Country Director Karuna Singh to open their environmental art exhibition on January 22, 2013. And we want to congratulate the students for their fantastic work!

It was inspiring to see the wonderful drawings made by the students – and more importantly, to see their knowledge about natural world around them, as displayed when they took Ms Singh around to explain each of the illustrations. Also included in the program were recitations and songs on nature.

To emphasize that all of us need to join together to protect the planet, Birla High School’s contingent of exchange students from Germany also participated. This international bonding helped the Indian and German students learn from each other and discover ways to work together to help the environment.  Teachers at the school also shared with EDN staff the other wonderful programs the school conducts. These include workshops to turn waste products into useful objects and programs to reduce noise pollution.

Here is a sample of some of the students’ illustrations:

In one of the pictures you shared above, there was this picture that drew something about the songs of fresh air being lovely that caught my attention. Pollution is truly a serious matter. It's a good thing that students are aware of it. Unfortunately, it takes more than just talk to put mother earth back in balance...don't you agree?
