Pres. Obama Issues Green Schools Proclamation; Earth Day Network Calls upon Congress and the Administration to Fund Environmental Education
Earth Day Network applauds President Barack Obama’s decision to issue a Presidential Proclamation for the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day lauding the Department of Education’s new Green Ribbon Schools program. We believe, as does the Administration, that green schools provide a solid educational and environmental foundation for our nation’s schoolchildren.
For more than seven years, Earth Day Network has been a national leader in the burgeoning movement to green America’s schools and played an instrumental role in creating the Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools program. This initiative is not only the first comprehensive green schools program at the federal level, it is a galvanizing force for schools seeking to save money, improve student and staff health, and reduce pollution.
Only a few weeks ago, President Obama’s budget proposal to Congress recommended eliminating nearly $40 million for environmental education programs at the EPA, NOAA and NSF. These proposed cuts – the equivalent to one-fourth of the cost of one F-22 fighter jet – would cripple local and national environmental education programs across the country. Though the Administration also deserves praise for announcing a new federal task force on environmental education at the first ever White House Summit on Environmental Education, these cuts have the potential to seriously hinder support for environmental education and green schools nationwide.
It’s no secret that America’s students deserve the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive world. That’s why we believe that environmental education and green schools are so important, since they play a critical role in advancing America’s competitiveness in an increasingly complex and challenging world.
As a result, Earth Day Network asks YOU to tell the Administration and Congress to FULLY fund environmental education at the federal level.

Extreme events are wreaking havoc on people’s lives and livelihoods in the United States. Communities across the country have endured severe storms, record-breaking temperatures, droughts and flooding - in what appears to be an alarming upward trend in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather. NOAA has already tallied 10 disasters through August 2011, each causing more than a billion dollars worth of damage. What about the other and specially our developing country.

If we like to express ourselves from deep of heart, it is bitter but reality that people in power, running after power and sharer of power undone before producer, profiteer. May be this is the hard fact for the earth’s history. Presently there is no chance to think that it would change easily. If we look back anyone could visualize the depiction that tells us greed of few people vanished total.
Could we start our earth savior program from other side? We could involve mass people to be responsible, do as best as possible finally raising their voice for adaptation, instead of urging by few rational individual, institution or expert from different country. To substantiate the thought we must need significant change in mindset among all preferably youth group. If they are tuned “To ensure Rights for all save a bit, reserve, preserve, conserve resources. Let’s achieve significant change in mindset, behavior and attitude combat Climate Crisis, Reduce Risk & Poverty, save Bio-diversity – Peace for Humanity —Way to Combat Climate Crisis, save Bio-diversity, Reduce Risk of Humanity.”
Since 2003 we group of people from all sector of life working on this and response is very positive specially from children/youth/students. Ok we shall do yearly gathering for adaptation and its solution head, concurrently we will be keen to involve mass people and each would contribute for the sake of environment. In every corner of globe people will raise voice
• Please, save a drop of water daily, during all water related activities
• Please, plant at least a Native tree annually at own home or community
• Please, keep off electric appliances one minute daily
• Please, suspend travel by personal car once a day
• Please, keep a day in a week luxury free
• Please, do not throw away the waste wherever you like
• Please, No more junk food
• Please, save one minute to think on Climate Change and Environment
• You Can Reduce CO2 Emissions, Plant Native Trees Worldwide

Funny, I was saying these same things on a site just yesterday, before I knew about today being Earth Day.
But I also think the US Congress, along with EVERY other power broker around the world should sponsor cost-effective campaigns to foster environmental awareness in schools and the general populace. Hey, how about letting the Earth be a campaign candidate and produce some ads about her. "Vote for Earth, Live for her care."

We are heavily condicioning for religion, politicion, television, family,country, food...and thousands things more
