Check out this new green kid’s book – A Turtle’s Quest for a Cleaner Planet

We in the Education Department of Earth Day Network often receive requests to review environmental books for kids. It is exciting to see so many children’s authors tackling important environmental issues and putting a friendly spin to get kids excited and not overwhelmed when it comes to helping the environment.

One recent such book, A Turtle’s Quest for a Cleaner Planet, has successfully adopted sophisticated ideas about the environment – such as the carbon footprint and personal responsibility – to create a positive message intended for a younger audience. Written by Artie Knapp and with illustrations by MJ Illustrations, A Turtle’s Quest for a Cleaner Planet was released earlier this month. This delightful story follows a young turtle named Thurman as he leaves his family to put an end to pollution. Thurman is determined to find a solution after trash and litter thrown from a car above ruin his sister’s wedding. Spurred to take action, Thurman goes an adventure and along the way comes across a science teacher who is teaching her class about the environment. This charming story, complete with wonderful full-page illustrations is sure to teach kid’s about their own responsibility when it comes to protecting their environment. The relatable characters and colorful illustrations will spark children’s imaginations to see what they can do to help the planet.
