Extensive recent media attention has focused on setbacks for environmentalists at the hands of the Tea Party activists bent on limiting the ability of the federal government to protect the environment.  Indeed, it seems Tea Party elements are comfortable filling our harbors with substances far more toxic than tea.

Using our new Billion Acts of Green Facebook application, Representative Edward Markey (D-Mass.) has pledged to "keep fighting in Congress for clean energy like wind, solar and electric vehicles and oppose the GOP's Oil Above All agenda."

Here’s another reason to celebrate April 22nd, Earth Day: Women!

As Melanne Verveer, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, has clearly illustrated in her Earth Day 2011 message, women are at the forefront of developing and effecting innovative solutions to critical environmental problems.

Earth Day is tomorrow, and Earth Day Network has been mobilizing local officials worldwide for weeks to discuss challenges and opportunities in sustainability with their communities through Global Day of Conversation.  The Kurdish region in Iraq has joined in this international endeavor to promote understanding and commitments at the community-level.
