Earth Day Network Names Sheila Dennis as Vice President for Major Gifts
WASHINGTON – Earth Day Network has named Sheila Dennis as Vice President for Major Gifts. Ms. Dennis will oversee the individual major giving program and the foundation giving program.
“Sheila’s reputation as a powerful fundraiser for environmental organizations has few equals. She will be a huge asset in meeting Earth Day Network’s goals,” said Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network. “We couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.”
Ms. Dennis brings to Earth Day Network over 27 years of non-profit fundraising experience, primarily in the fields of environment and education. Since 2007, Ms. Dennis worked for The Wilderness Society, holding positions including Acting Vice President of Development and Membership and Vice President of Individual Giving. She has also held senior fundraising positions at Yale University and Deerfield Academy, the American Museum of Natural History, The Nature Conservancy, Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Trust for Public Land.
“Earth Day Network is expanding and mobilizing the environmental movement like no other organization; and through their year-round green schools, healthy communities, sustainable economy and other programs, they’re having a serious and immediate impact on environmental health and policy,” said Ms. Dennis. “I’m honored to be able to help push these effective programs forward.”
Ms. Dennis holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. Active in her community, Sheila works on sustainable agriculture issues and with the local Hospice. She is an avid outdoorswoman and enjoys running, hiking, cycling, fly-fishing, and skiing in the hills of western Massachusetts.
